Super Bro’s – Excellent Pizza in Italian Bistro

We recently came across this place on a random stroll along Oeder Weg in the western part of Nordend. The residential neighborhood immediately north of the Frankfurt city center is well known for its many culinary options. Multiple new restaurants opened up in the area around the city’s main cinema. The development is basically an extension of the already well established bar and restaurant scene around Eschenheimer Tor. Places that opened in recent years along Oeder Weg include Vipho, a trendy Vietnamese, eatDOORI, a branch of the successful Indian from the Bahnhofsviertel, and Chez Mamie, a French restaurant moving here from Dornbusch. It is always exciting to walk this street and discover new shops.

A new opening is also Super Bro’s, which is a small bistro-style place that serves Neapolitan pizza. The owners try to create an Italian family dinner experience for the costumer, where all friends, uncles and neighbors are invited to join in the culinary and atmospheric spectacle. Accordingly, there are no reservations possible and the vibe is very casual with people sharing tables or eating at the bar. We just walked in and were lucky enough to get a place to sit, since we visited for early dinner, it was just before it got more crowded.

Super Bro’s is a very laid back bistro with a trendy cool decoration – we were sitting next to a typical Italian scooter. Costumers order at the counter and the menu is hanging on a wall. The menu is short and to the point – twelve options of pizza. The toppings are classic, authentic and chosen with great care. The guys working seem to be very passionate about what they are doing. This all added to a fantastic first impression.

We decided to share a rucola pizza and have some red wine of course. The dish arrived very quickly. The pizza was very tasty, crunchy light crust and tender bottom. The prosciutto, cheese and rucola were delicious as well. Most surprising, considering the bistro-style, was that the red wine was also really good. Overall, I had the impression of getting a very good deal and enjoyed the relaxed and casual atmosphere.
